The existing core structure of the University and Regensburg University of Applied Sciences north of the highway is based on a linear concept with expansion options. The university hospital in the west of construction site III and south of the highway has a satellite function as an independent axial comb structure.
As a central cluster structure with internal spaces, our design forms a second self-sufficient satellite in the middle of the natural area of the Danube-Isar hills. Four clusters of different sizes are grouped around a central hub, which forms a place of arrival and community. From this center, there are connections to the surrounding area in all directions. The clusters are accessed via a central campus axis in an east-west direction.
This results in three research clusters with a mix of uses and a special cluster containing the Mobility Hub with additional functions. The structure has a more closed character towards the noisy highway in the north and opens up to the landscape in the south. The size and orientation of the clusters relate to the surrounding landscape.
